2026 marks the start of the 70th Anniversary of the YPT golden trio: YAM Kim-fai, PAK Suet-sin and TONG Tik-sang. The Dream Series embarks on a cross-disciplinary adventure of creativity and the inner self, with more projects to come… Peony Pavilion.Mirror Awakening, X-Over Dance: Celebrating the 40th anniversary of MUI Cheuk-yin’s 1986 solo Wandering in the Garden, Waking from a Dream, MUI and LAN Tian-yu from PAI Hsien-yung’s novel reflect, distil and continue their journeys, resonating with DU Liniang from TANG Xianzu’s Peony Pavilion across more than four centuries. “As beautiful as a flower, as fleeting as the years.” Their lives on stage overlap, meeting in a dream. Priscilla LEUNG’s voice travels through more than four centuries, while LI Pui-yan is the DU Liniang of our time in TONG Tik-sang’s Peony Pavilion 70. On stage, one mirror, two chairs, three women. A mirror, offering a glimpse into the illusion of another world, familiar yet strange, close at hand yet forever beyond reach. A dream, arriving unbidden, suddenly opening an eye onto the mortal world, encountering a time, a place, a person never imagined; emotions strike, life stirs. The dream ends. “After knowing the vast sea, no other waters will do.” Who, then, will fall so deeply that “the living may die for love, and the dead may live again”, consuming that moment of shock and awakening?
