The historical and social roles of a consort is examined through the situation and perspective of Consort ZAU Sai-hin in Floral Princess. This rap show presents from different angles, with a humorous touch, the painful challenges of a feudalistic consort in terms of his role (as a man) in politics, family and love & marriage.
Here an artist with traditional canto-opera training is trying to use his body, deeply ingrained with canto-operatic routines, to break through such routines to explore “extraordinary” body movements: drama crossing over canto-opera. He will also experience the painful challenges of being a responsible man faced by both the character and its performer.
