Utopia's Floral Princess Trailer: Click here to watch

There is probably no other example than Floral Princess among Canto-operas: its theme song A Fragrant Death has become a household tune, representative of the popular culture of a particular time and place......

The sad and beautiful story of Princess Coeng-ping uses the final turbulent days of Ming dynasty in 1644 as its backdrop -- her capital city falls but she survives. After change of sovereignty she and her husband are as if forever apart: mutual recognition would be inapt even when they do meet. Yet, national mission compels her to resume her nobility and come back, albeit in pain. When her wish is fulfilled, she committed suicide together with her husband, to uphold national dignity. The Utopia presents the '65th Anniversary Remake of Floral Princess' - International Touring Edition. This production blends TONG Tik-sang’s original stage and film scripts and includes an added scene of Emperor Chongzhen’s noble suicide. Tradition x ArtsTech: a finely crafted, minimalist style with symbolic projections, immersive lighting, a large mobile stage, and a tailor-made Harmonic Canto-opera Audio System (HCA), delivering an elevated visual and auditory experience and a new dimension of beauty and aesthetics. After 20 performances in Hong Kong and Macau, heading to metropolitan areas..."
